Haustið 1950 fór frk. Rannveig Líndal um í Skagafirði á vegum S.N.K. Hún boðaði fund á Hólum þriðjudaginn 19 september og þar mættu sex konur sem stofnuðu Kvenfélag Hólahrepps. Helga Helgadóttir, Elísabet Júlíusdóttir, Konkordía Rósmundsdóttir ritari, Hólmfríður Jónsdóttir, Una Árnadóttir formaður og Svava Antonsdóttir gjaldkeri. Þrjár konur sem ekki gátu mætt á fundinn létu skrá sig sem félaga, Anna Jónsdóttir, Svanhildur Steinsdóttir og Guðrún Gunnlaugsdóttir. Tilgangur félagssins er að efla samvinnu og félagslund meðal kvenna á félagssvæðinu og styðja að hverskonar mannúð og menningarstarfsemi.
