History

Foreldrar: Jón Kristbergur Árnason og k.h. Amalía Sigurðardóttir. Sigrún ólst upp með foreldrum sínum, fyrst á Vatni á Höfðaströnd, en þaðan fluttu þau í Víðivelli 1921. Sigrún fór svo á Húsmæðraskólann á Blönduósi veturinn 1930-1931. Kvæntist árið 1934 Ingimari Jónssyni frá Flugumýri og þar bjuggu þau óslitið frá 1932-1955 er Ingimar lést. Sigrún hélt áfram búskap til 1959 er synir hennar tóku við. Haustið 1964 fór hún í vinnu að Reykjaskóla í Hrútafirði og var þar næstu þrjá vetur en þar var yngsti sonur hennar við nám. Árið 1969-1970 var hún hjá Steinunni dóttur sinni í Garðabæ. Alltaf átti hún þó heimili á Flugumýri og fluttist ekki þaðan fyrr en en hún keypti íbúð á Sauðárkróki árið 1972. Þar dvaldi hún næstu 5 árin, eða þar til hún fór á sjúkrahús vegna veikinda. Strax í æsku komu í ljós hjá Sigrúnu tónlistarhæfileigar og sérlega fögur söngrödd, sem hún hélt alla tíð. Sigrún og Ingimar eignuðust átta börn.
